Mattel Donny and Marie Catalog

Mattel Donny and Marie Catalog

donny and marie
Donny and Marie were TV superstars in 1977 thanks to their Sid and Marty Krofft (yes, the Land of the Lost guys) produced variety show which I watched an awful lot as a kid.

Girls loved Donny and looked up to Marie so it only made sense when Mattel Toys snapped up the merchandising rights to this squeaky clean pop duo.

The results are a little bit Barbie, a little bit Rock and Roll….

Oooo! I loved Donny and Marie, too. I was 13 in 1977 so I probably wouldn’t have bought the toys, but I certainly did watch every show. I was never in love with Donny, though.

The folks at Mattel must have been thrilled when Marie showed up to the photo shoot sporting a kicky new ‘do that was so different from the doll they just spent months of production on.

    Two questions:
Did Donnie come with purple socks?
    and
Where are the Ice Angels? They didn’t even rate inclusion on one of the backdrops?

Wow. My favorite is the studio playset.

Looks like hours and hours of fun!

    🙂
