I found the Hulk I met as a kid!
I found my Hulk!
After decades of searching and posting about Superhero Mall Appearances, thanks to an excellent YouTube video (I’ve posted it below; it’s pretty amazing), this is the Incredible Hulk I met at the Whitby Mall Woolco as a kid in 1976.
As shown in the video, he was a large inflatable and actually dorkier than I remember.I recall he had an extension cord, and I could also see the man’s penny loafers underneath. How did I miss that porthole on his chest? Maybe I was too short to notice. Kids were talking to him, but I knew that wasn’t the “Real Hulk,” although Cap and Spider-Man appeared to be totes legit.
My well-meaning mum accidentally opened the camera that day, exposing the film and an obsession was born.
Marvel retired this look pretty quickly, it seems, and opted for a friendlier Incredible Hulk costume by the late 1970s.
Really excited to finally see him again!

Later Hulk Costume
I’m still working on Mall of Justice as a book concept, and if you have stories or photos of yourself with this Hulk or any Superheroes, drop me a DM or an email.I’d love to include your memories….
