Aurora Monsters on Sale

My love for the Aurora Monster model kits knows no bounds, I’ve bought and re bought them several times over during my life and I’m currently repairing the ones my kids and I did over the years. I thought it would be fun to go through some old timey ads where they could be purchased […]

Some Universal Monster Madness

Bill sent in this awesome shot of him getting choked by the Phantom of the Opera at Universal Studios, I’m assuming by the Fonzie shirts this is 1976ish. I rarely get Uni Monster appearance shots submitted,  so I absolutely love this. Send me your mall appearance photos!

Monsterous Fashion

From the “I wish they made these now dept” come these cool mock horror shirts, adding funny captions to vintage horror pictures dates back to Famous Monsters magazine so it’s nice to see them getting a nod here but it’s pretty obvious whoever wrote the catalog copy wasn’t a reader: Which one is Dracula? Mom, […]

Halloween in the UK

Lovin’ this selection of Party masks I found in a UK toy catalog, I’m assuming those are the Ben Cooper Universal Monsters masks being sold as a set without smocks, the things you learn!

Jiggling Monsters terrorize my wallet

New to the AHI Monster Gallery is this awesome display box of Super Monster Jigglers. I’m not very observant because someone smarter than me had to point out that there are two sizes of Monster Jigglers, the larger ones that came in this box that have tags and the slightly shorter ones that came on […]

Colouring Book Theatre: The Bride of Frankenstein

‘Universal Monsters” by Golden When I did my poll last month, obviously the creech won out but a loit of folks seemed passionate about the Bride so it seemed fair to run a piece on this. Frankenstein is my favourite movie monster after all and it’s not like I have other colouring books to review […]

The 1973 Ben Cooper Catalog gets Groovy

The name “Ben Cooper” and “Halloween” are pretty synonymous to children of the 1970s/ The company produced a staggering amount of items devoted to October 31st and chances are if your parents used “store bought” costumes, they were from Ben Cooper. 1973 like every year is a load of fun, lots of popular licenses (including […]

The Tomland Mini Monsters

Happy to showcase these weird little figures, produced in 1979 by a UK company called Tomland (under the umbrella of Marx) these stylin’ mini monsters were based on my beloved Lincoln International Monsters. I don’t know why and I honestly don’t care, I’m just pleased that they were. Tomland made their own 8″ versions of […]

Create a Monster

Monogram really did create a monster when they reissued these classic Aurora Monster kits in 1983, unfortunately that monster was me and I still get crazy whenever I see these. I hope these kits never stop being reissued.

Colouring Book Theatre: Creature from the Black Lagoon

‘Universal Monsters” by Golden Our final look at this fun book was chosen by you the reader and I can’t honestly say I’m surprised it’s the creech, his popularity is probably why his toys cost so darn much in any assortment. To be honest, I share that fascination and always have, the Creature sits at […]
