Diener Space Raiders Erasers (eBay Link)– Man, I loved stuff like this as a kid, it was like sneaking toys into school. The space stuff was so funky, even back then. It’s weird what makes you smile sometimes. Am I really contemplating buying old school supplies? Yes, yes I am.

Celestra- Queen of the Transforming Dolls by Placo Toys (ebay link)- A friend of mine turned me onto these for my upcoming book about Knock-Off action figures. It’s this weird mix of She-Ra and the Transformers. Were there kids wanting that? Some of these characters turn into cars. I don’t know why I just felt like I needed to tell others about this.

Hogan’s Heroes Rack Toy by Harmony (eBay Link)- If you follow this site or have read Rack Toys, you may have heard me sputter on about Harmony. Harmony is an abscure Rack Toy Manufacturer that made WEIRD STUFF and oddball licenses. Hogan’s Heroes is just one of those weird Harmony items, the show hadn’t been on the air for five years and well, why?

Vanity Fair Shoot Em Up Game- I remember I played with one of these at a kid named Jeff’s house. I was invited to his 8th birthday party. They had lost the gun, so you had to clap to make the guy fall down. Apparently, I offended super offended Jeff’s dad ( a town councilor!) at Mother’s Pizza because I did the “Swimmin’ with Bare Nekkid Wimmin” Popeye song. I was never invited to Jeff’s house again. Wow, this freaking thing has unlocked some deep-rooted issues.

Years later, I saw Jeff’s sister jump off the high school stage and punch a girl in the face. I immediately wondered if their dad would be offended by that. Does anybody read this?

    I read—and enjoy—them! 😎 Thanks!

I read it too. I once sang, “There’s a place in France where the ladies wear no pants…” to my own mother. She was none too amused.

      Reader here too.

That first item looks pretty familiar, but in the late 70’s/early 80’s there was a lot of stuff that looked like that.

A sitcom based on a WWII German POW camp is bizarre enough. Toys based on said sitcom, even moreso. But toys that came out 5 years after the show was over? How long are we going to have to wait for a Handsmaid’s Tale tea set or parachuters?

Handmaid’s tale secretary set and some pearl earrings.

I remember it ends with “and the men don’t care cos they eat their underwear”. My mum wasn’t pleased with that either.

I just received that Star Trek the Motion Picture figure painting set in the mail yesterday. I got it for a very good price, but I wouldn’t dare try painting the figure, I’ve never been good at that. The two Planet of the Apes figure models I have were already built and painted. It’s more convenient that way!

Oh, you nabbed it, good for you!

Hi Brian. I read these every week! Often because I don’t see responses here I will just reply on the facebook post or the twitter post. I agree that Jeff’s dad had a strange double standard but sometimes dad’s don’t like other little boys but will look the other way when their little princess is a complete monster!
