Marvel Licensing Newsletter from 1990

Marvel Licensing Newsletter from 1990

This booklet is a handout given away at ToyFair 1990, raving  about the new ToyBiz action figure line and other merch and touting the upcoming  Captain America movie.!

Marvel Comics Licensing Book from 1990- Toybiz

I remember this wave of Marvel figures being a big deal then. Collectors hadn’t seen Marvel action figures since Secret Wars a few years earlier and this felt like a drought was over. Since then, I don’t think we’ve had a single year where Marvel characters didn’t get action figures.

Marvel’s licensing department was in fine form for this year with relationships with many companies that are sadly no longer.

Here’s that ToyFair list stitched together.

I will admit to being really excited about that Captain America film. Even when I saw a bootleg copy of it in ’91, I still thought it had merit. Apparently there is a different cut to this that director Albert Pyun championed. I hope I can see that version.

I bought this mainly because of the costumed character photos for my still unfinished book Mall of Justice.

If you have photos and stories like these, send ’em on down!
