Groovie Goolie Love

Groovie Goolie Love

I was super stoked to find this amazing Chemtoy catalog page featuring the Groovie Goolies figures (which I sadly don’t own but luckily are featured in Rack Toys). It’s bittersweet that the find happened just as I get news that Lou Scheimer has passed away. It’s no secret I adored the man’s work and I am so glad that he managed to document his stories in an amazing book.

Think I’ll go watch some cartoons….

Just like there are "DC People" and "Marvel People," I think there are also "Hanna-Barbara People" and "Filmation People." I was definitely in the Filmation camp. I think the animation was of a higher caliber and the writing was much better. Lou Scheimer treated kids with respect and gave them what they wanted. He was a great guy who will be missed.

Fun – I would have wanted them all. And probably only ended up with one.

I still have the 4 I won at a school fair as a child. Frankie, Wolfie, and the twins (along with some Fat Albert characters) all won by yours truly tossing a softball into a big milk can! Added the Mummy later when they were still reasonable, maybe some day I will fill in the set!
