Evel Knievel for 1974

Evel Knievel for 1974

Another glorious look at one of the decade’s greatest successes and possibly one of the biggest hits in toy history. When Ideal toys licensed the likeness of Robert “Evel” Knievel known for his wild (and painful) stunts and combined it with one of the grooviest toy concepts known, it was gold!

During these years, the EK stunt set was a top ten best seller in North America and it was a steady rocket ride for the next couple of years.

I had this back in '74 and yes…it was the greatest toy EVER! I really miss it. Thanks for the memories.

Man. I was an Evel Knievel fanatic back in the day. I remember seeing Viva Knievel at the drive-in. I THINK I had the basic set (with the red, windup base thing), but wanted this set in the worst way.

I wanted this like nobody's business but my mom wouldn't let me have one because she didn't think Evel Knievel was a good role model. Grr.

You weren't alone, my mom HATED Evel with a passion. She must have seen some interview and she just branded him as a jerk.

The sole time I got to play with one of this is when I pretended to be friends with a kid I didn't like.

You will pay for that on someday Brian. You need to make your karma good like Earl on "My name is Earl." LOL

I had the girl's version – Derry Daring – and it was a cool toy!
