AHI L’il Walker Rex Dinosaur AKA Godzilla

I had a neat pickup this weekend at the Gargoyle in downtown Toronto. It’s one of my favourite Rack Toys.

AHI Godzilla

This is an AHI Little Walker Rex Dinosaur” that pretty much everybody calls “Godzilla” because, let’s face it, it’s supposed to be the Big G.

These wind-up sparking monsters were a happy part of my childhood, but I actually did not own an “Official” AHI version.

Sparking Super Monsters from the 1980s.

The Little Walkers got a lot of “Unofficial releases” (see above) up until the early 1990s. The main difference I’ve learned is an original has toes on its feet, and later editions are just rectangles.

I’ve included my later version for comparison; they’re both pretty great, but the colours on this AHI version pop.

Also, you never see these guys carded; at least, I never do. Oh, for a carded Creature from the Black Lagoon.
