Smellin’ Classy

Smellin’ Classy

I was an English Leather user as a teen, which didn’t really do much but had I’d been a Hawaiian surf kinda guy I bet the ladies would have flocked to me.

So, was the Hawaiian Surf bottle supposed to look like a stack of cheese wheels? If so, mission accomplished!

i used to enjoy going through my grandfather's cologne collection. He had a large assortment due to years of gifts from relatives, ranging from bottles that looked like locomotives, ships, guns, and everything in-between.

  • Wow, my Dad had the English Leather set..and some other stuff called "Karate" too! The English Leather box had a cheap wood grain printed on the gift set for 'presentation.' Smelled spicy and awful, but not as bad as Old Spice.

I used to use Stetson as a teen. Whoo-boy…

My dad recieved the English Leather set at least three times during my childhood for Christmas from various family members. To this day, he still has some of the bottles left. And occasionally uses it.

Wow, I had completely forgotten about English Leather, even though I used it as a teenager. I always felt like a he-man when I was sportin' those scents.

(who still has a bottle of Jade East)

  • @ Tex – YESIREE! That is totally it. (and I still have a partial bottle of Jovan's 'Sex appeal" I blushed about getting as a gift when I was 14.)

Honestly, to me, this is what "real men" smell like. It reminds me of my dad and grandfathers. They were hardworking blue collar guys who didn't give a rip about vanity. And they sure weren't going to blow what little cash they had on expensive bottles of colored stinky water. They just slapped on whatever we kids gave them at Christmas. The smell of Old Spice, Canoe, and English Leather instantly transports me to those days and brings back memories of my male role models.

My Uncle used to have tons of colognes, including winners like "Chaz" and "Hai Karate".
