AHI Superfriends Buggy

AHI Superfriends Buggy

After almost three decades of toy collecting, not many vintage toy sightings make me want to wet my pants. This past few weeks I’ve had the pleasure of almost losing control several times, first with the Tomland Monsters and then followed up by this, the AHI Superfriends car in glorious detail.
My friend Mark from Heroes West Coast hooked me up with these awesome shots, so please everybody check out his ebay store.
More after the jump:

The first thing I want to say after “Gahhh!” is “Aquaman”! While Wonder Woman is strangely absent, you have no idea how much Aquaman gets the shaft in 70s merch. Well, read this if you’re curious.

I am assuming this is some sort of parade situation and the A listers are strutting their stuff.

AC’s been hitting the red bull.

I can’t not love this toy, it may be the crappiest remote controlled car ever but it’s just so crazy and colorful. One of these days, it shall be mine!

Amazing! Never saw this toy before, either! Wonderful and so awesome that Aquaman was included, much less the driver's seat!

Wow, I've never seen this baby up close!!

Why would Superman ever need or want to ride in (or in this case on) a car?

During my rabid Batman collecting back in the 80s, I'm pretty sure I had this same dune buggy with just Batman driving it. To have four super heroes in the car is pretty amazing, if a little perplexing.

    Hi, this is TR.

I remember having this toy, before I was 10. I think someone sent it to me, by accident. Thank you unknown person(s), whose toy car I kept! 😀

I would run around on the sidewalk, with this car running along.

** Warning** The plastic men on the car, are not made of a strong plastic.
I ran the toy car around, on the wire-remote control. And while driving it, the car flipped…And superman + batman broke off at the legs, almost immediately. Poor guys!
Still, it was a wonderfully fun toy, for the under 11 crowd!

I remember having my mom buy this for me at a Ben Franklin store when I was a kid in the 70s. Played with it until pretty much all of the hard plastic superheroes were broken off of it. What I would give to have it back today…

I had this car in the early 70's (also bought from a Ben Franklin store). I was probably 3 or 4 at the time. I've tried over the years of tracking this piece down and this is the first time I've managed to find pictures of it!! This website is so cool!! –Rick
