1981 Toys R Us Flyer

1981 Toys R Us Flyer

Toys R Us is one of the last toy chains we have left and the only one featured on this site that is actually still around. This flyer from December 1981 is a time capsule of what we could have expected under the tree, Barbies, Glamour gals, Atari games, Remco Monsters and Mego Superheroes.

It’ll make you want to go shopping!

Oh I just love looking through the old toy catalogs! Thanks for posting the 1981 Child World catalog! So many great memories of that store – there was one not too far from where I lived that my parents always took me to; I still remember going there to pick out Strawberry Shortcake or Care Bears miniatures or My Little Pony…I had so much fun seeing these scans and picking out toys I used to have! I used to have the Pumpkin Farm, and the Tippy Toes doll, the Dolly Pops, the Little Brown Pony ride on…

Sometimes I wish that I could get my hands on a real TARDIS so I could go back and re-live these types of moments in my '80s childhood.

From the 1981 Catalogue – I got the Tauntaun (I earned the money to pay for it by feeding the neighbour's parrot – I was scared stiff of it so that Tauntaun was well earned). Got the Lego Alpha Rocket Base for Christmas and my sister got the Cookie Monster Piano which is still be used by her kids now.
