Given the attitudes back then, it's entirely possible. This Anon's genuine 70s vintage colour wheel shows the correct coordinating colour for outpsoken orange would be [20] sensitive green. Decorators should have gone for a lighter shade on the furniture, too.
What is the name for the 70s style of rounded corners on windows, and tables and chairs, that you always saw in sci-fi shows of the period, like Space:1999?
