NFL Teammates

Everybody seems to forget about these little guys that predate “starting Line Ups” by a decade or so. These figures are close to Mego size and eventhough I’m not a big sports guy, I will cop to finding these pretty neat.If anyone has an extra Green Bay Packer, I have a good friend who would […]

1974 HG Toys Puzzle Catalog

HG Toys was one of the bigger producers of licensed products in the 1970s and this great puzzle catalog from 1974 proves this. Almost every popular television show or character from that time is present, including Evel Knievel, Star Trek, the Marvel Superheroes, Planet of the Apes, Happy Days and much more. Check out the […]

RC Super Heroes

Captain America never gets enough toy love IMO. These RC cars were an uncharacteristicly higher price point item from AHI and while the Spider-Man car was around for a couple of years, I can only find evidence of Cap being offered in 1980 thus far. I’ve never seen a boxed Captain America Car either.

Merchants of Space Death

The influence of Star Wars is incredibly obvious in any Christmas Catalog from 1978 to about 1982. Space Toys were pretty much in the minority prior to 1978, then all of a sudden cool, crazy stuff like these helmets and pistols started popping up. “Space Swords” were my favourite, awesome “nudge, nudge, don’t sue us!” […]

The 1975 Mattel Toys Show Room

Thanks to some tremendously thoughtful efforts from a good friend, I have a bit of toy history to unveil today. It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted to see but never thought possible. But these rare shots featuring both the massive Big Jim and Barbie displays for that year have finally been unearthed. While […]

Remco Monsters Trading Card

It’s been a while since I unveiled a trading card and this is going out of order but what the hell, it’s Halloween. Card #29 is the Remco Monsters. Anyone who has read this blog knows I’m terribly fond of the line and I loved this great glow in the dark shot, so it was […]

Funstuf Frankenstein

Funstuff produced several “Aniform” figures of characters like the Incredible Hulk and the Universal Monsters. This rare promotional sheet shows the original packaging which was later altered. Funstuf also released a Dracula but I don’t have that piece Click on the images to see a larger view of the sell sheet.

AHI Super Monsters on Sale!

I’ve uncovered a few sales ads for the AHI “World Famous Super Monsters” one of the more prolific and collectable Universal licensed items produced in the 1970s. The one is from K Mart in 1976, where apparently the line is getting closed out, it’s also a Valentines day sale, weird… Here’s another clearance ad, not […]

Wind Up Super Monsters

This is an ad from Canadian Tire of all places and I totally remember it, these guys were in my stocking one Christmas. Originally they were made by Azrak Hamway (AHI) . The three figures included a suspiciously familiar “Rex Dinosaur”, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and King Kong, each shot sparks from it’s […]

Monster Model Day

A tradition in my house every October is Monster Model day, where I get the kids together and we paint a couple of Aurora reissues and use them as our centerpiece for the month. Above is last years, I had a lot of trouble finding kits locally so I actually bought this years kits when […]
