The Lincoln International Monsters are one of my favourite childhood memories, and I always want to find ways to work with them. I designed each pin based on the original packaging art I’m utterly infatuated with.

The idea came because I wanted to make a set of Lincoln Monster pins for myself, and it spiralled from there. The factory I used for this was quite excellent.  I’m elated with their quality and look. Sometimes you make things for yourself, but you also want to share. You can get the Lincoln Monsters individually or as a unique carded set while supplies last.

It was also really fun laying out that card. I wanted to make it like a gumball machine card as much as possible, but my Rack Toy biases ultimately won.

In 1973, New York-based Ideal Toys created toys based on Butte Montana’s daredevil son, Robert “Evel” Knievel and history was made! Many thanks to Rob Chatlin for the terrific scans.

Thanks to Knievel being a household name and the toy’s clever concept, it became a hot seller and one of the most memorable toy lines of the 1970’s.

f you were a boy in the 1970s and didn’t own one of these, most likely you wanted one. Other companies such as Kenner and Mego tried to knock off the success of this toy with their own daredevil stunt line, a true sign of a successful line.

The Scramble Van was a colorful bit of vinyl and plastic that was put under a lot of trees in 1973.

I found this piece that I honestly didn’t know existed, so it was a pretty big deal for me. As a lover of the TV show “Kung Fu”, the merchandise is minimal and this set from Multiple Toys is something special.

The weird thing is, it’s actually not licensed. Released just after the show was canceled, it’s like Multiple just went ahead and produced the set anyway. It’s clearly based on the series, look at the Caine on that artwork. Don’t mind his weird arm.
