Random Marvel Mania

I’ve mentioned this before but Bop Bags truly confuse me, why would you want to beat the crap out of your favourite character? This Captain America Bop Bag is ever worse, isn’t he the sentinel of liberty? Isn’t throwing a punch at old cap a bit like punching the flag? If you had one of […]

Open the door, to your mystery date!

Not a dud in the bunch, although number four is the dreamiest. I think it’s the moustache and the fighting stance, I’m a sucker for both.If you liked yesterday’s blog about Incredible Hulk Toys then you’ll love the one I wrote for Topless Robot entitled The Top Ten Most Incredibly Lame Hulk Toys. It’s a […]

Hulkamania!

Even though he’s getting another summer blockbuster this year, I still say the Hulk was never more popular than in the late 70’s. The TV series was, in my opinion the thing that made the character the pop culture icon he is today. Merchandising back then went from logical to the truly insane, I mean […]

The 1980 Remco Catalog

1980 was a growing year for this offshoot of Azrak Hamway as they expanded their line of Super Hero action figures, reintroduced the Universal Monsters to 80’s kids, while continuing to offer old favorites like Batman utility belts and KISS makeup. Check out the 1980 Remco Catalog here.RRRRRRRRRRRR!Other Remco Catalog links:1976 Remco Catalog1979 Remco Catalog

Super Selection of Sleeping Bags

I used to collect Sleeping bags, talk about a space killer. This spread has me wondering though, what kid wanted the McDonalds characters over say Spider-Man and Hulk or the cool robots from the Black Hole? I can’t imagine unrolling a McDonaldland sleeping bag at Richard Huer’s sleep over back in the day. I think […]

Super Heroic Goodies

By the late 1970’s, Remco was making a heroic amount of comic book merchandising including logical items like the CSF BatCopter and inflatable Hulk muscles to the truly head scratching stuff like the Hulk Helicopter and Spider-Man pistols. Check out the 1979 Remco Catalog.

Darth Mall and an appearance by the Incredible Hulk!

Two more additions to the Plaidstallions Mall Appearance Gallery today and they’re both pretty fantastic! Daniel Preston sent in this fantastic pic of Darth Vader at the Mac Dade Mall Woolco in PA, Vader choked that Imperial officer when his marker ran dry. Mark ( AKA Vulcanjedi ) sent in this wild Incredible Hulk Appearance […]

Men of Plush

Those that know me, know of my fondness for plush superheroes, especially stuff like the mego super softies. I’ve always found these late seventies characters from Knickerbocker to be terrific but I’m perplexed by the exclusion of Batman, Batman always gets picked for the team!

Why Does the Hulk Need a Helicopter?

Today’s site update is the 1979 Empire Toys Catalog. Empire didn’t make many trendsetting toys, mostly items to fit in with other companies existing lines and using a lot of licenses. Superman, Spider-man and the Incredible Hulk get a lot of face time here.
