Rug Hooking Rocked!

Rug Hooking Rocked!

Thanks to Mr Hurst’s 3rd grade art class, I got into making latch rugs as a kid. For about ten minutes, somewhere in a landfill is a half done Superman logo (inspired by the movie) that I just bored with once nice weather arrived. I did finish a snoopy skating on a field of green though (they were out of blue).

Wow. That brings up a not-so-good memory of 7th grade art class. All the other boys were hooking American flags while I chose a South Korean flag (I was doing a report on SK and thought the flag looked cool).

The teacher demanded to know why I was doing a Korean flag.

It pissed me off so much, I didn’t take a formal art class until attending the Maine College of Art over a decade later.

Thanks for dredging that one up 😉

Heh, bad memories for me too. Why are supposed to be fun?

Imagine the Superman-shaped mold in that girl’s lungs right now.

Dude I’m actually looking all over the place for a Superman rug-hooking kit for a bit of a funny gift for my little brother who calls himself Superman… and you dumped one in a landfill!!! Haha.

My wife’s sister bought her, a few years ago, a vintage latch hook kit to make (no joke) a VEST that you WEAR out of latch hook.

This year for Christmas, we made it for her. Complete with custom-designed “Keep on Truckin'” insignia on the back.

    I hope she wears it.
