Imitation Kong Radio

Oh how the unlicensed Gorilla stuff just came pouring out of everywhere in 1977. I’m pretty sure I didn’t own one piece of licensed Kong Merchandise (most of which was made by Mego) but had plenty of this generic stuff.

I remember when radios became small (and cheap) enough that they started putting them in everything. I remember there were so many shaped like a characters with a black vinyl carrying loop attached. I still use my Batman-shaped radio everyday as I get ready for big boy world.

I remember the can radios, but not that Gorilla one. Can you imagine little Billy, unable to sleep, his dad comes in his room at night and brings this scary-ass Gorilla playing classical music???

    Poor Billy.

Makes you wonder how many alcoholics grabbed their radios in the morning and tried to chug it.

I still have a Pepsi bottle AM radio. I imagine it still works. I had a King Kong notebook, that's about all I had that was Kong related.
