I love stuff like this, in the mid seventies Sears marketed this “Beyond Tomorrow Lunar Space Station” play set with three handpainted “alien” figures that were clearly supposed to be Kirk, Spock and Uhura. What’s more weird is this seems to be originally an MPC playset based on the Gerry Anderson Puppet series “Fireball XL5” and the listing even goes as far as to call it an XL5. Crazy stuff like this is what makes toy collecting fun.

I remember the little white figures and a few of the acessories.
Maybe Sears' mixing of the different series just mirrored what we'd end up doing when we actualyy played with the stuff anyway.
My brother ended up with 2 of these, because the 1st set he got from Sears was missing a lot of critical pieces.
They had 2 different designs for the cylinder station with the yellow top: 1) the pink space station shown in the pic, and 2) a blue one with an ocean theme. The Star Trek figures were made of a different plastic than the spacemen–much like those Planet of the Apes sets that combined painted apes with green toy soldiers that Sears also distributed.
I still remember the days when Sears was cool in the 70's, between their seasonal toy sections, Sears exclusive toy sets, and the Sears VCS (Atari 2600). The Sears in my hometown even had a coin-op arcade in it–it was the first place in town that had Space Invaders, and that game just blew our minds back then.
Wow! I wuold have playe the heck out of that when I was a kid. Heck…maybe even now! Get's kind of boring at times at work. lol
Not sure if I was ever bestowed with such a treasure back in the day, but I know now that Sears had released a military tank/army set using the same tank treads as seen on that red tank on the right, and that triangular missle launcher in the upper right (which I had, including the red missile). That missile launcher was mounted on a tank. Glorious. Dood, thanks for sharing.
Man, these figures and sets were fun! I didn't have this particular Sears set, but I had a set that had the astronauts, space station, and "flying bucket". Hours and hours of fun!!
Some years back I started my search to replace my missing white "flying bucket" for my astronaut to go skimming the lunar surface in. It took me amost a year until I found one on eBay.
I got that set for Christmas one year and loved it so much. A few years ago I set out to find it and lucked out on grabbing two sets on eBay – one complete and one near complete.
See that round pink "station" thing? It is one of the holy grails of my childhood.In the 15 years since I bought my first internet ready computer, I have been searching for a clue,ANY clue that this thing actually existed.I can't believe it took me until now to stumble aross it.It was bought at Lionel Kiddie City in Somerdale NJ,and it was part of an undersea adventure set that came with scuba men and fish.One of my favorite toys EVER!
