Happy Rack Toys Day!
Happy 9th birthday to my book, Rack Toys: Cheap Crazed Playthings, unleashed onto an unsuspecting world in 2012 after nearly two years of hard work.
I think it’s funny that my newest book Knock-Offs is currently in the final stages of production. Knock-Offs was initially supposed to follow up Rack Toys in 2014, but several factors delayed that from happening. The largest being a lack of confidence in my works.
Rack Toys sold well and got a lot of critical praise but it was one of those things that grew over time. I ran out of it a few years back and chuckled over how it became a collector’s item.
When the good folks at Nacelle asked if they could launch their new Publishing label with a revised Rack Toys, it was a tremendous and validating shot in the arm. Nacelle sent me a press tour for Rack Toys (which happily meant me never leaving my office), and I made some new friends along the way. The entire time the vision of the Knock-Offs cover kept flashing in my mind. I could visualize it, I had to get it out of me.
So I’m eternally grateful to this book, Nacelle Publishing and all of you who made it part of your library. Here’s to talking toys and not others.
Oh and I posted an Update on Issue 6 of Toy-Ventures in our newsletter, you can read it here.
