Palitoy Action Girl Movie set (sponsored link)
Palitoy’s Action Girl was a really cool line of articulated fashion dolls with some interesting “Super Sets” including a space themed one this is wicked cool!
The idea of a fashion doll filming a historical drama shows a genuine care in creating an enjoyable and unique environment with these sets.
Mayor McCheese Slippers (sponsored link)
So, when I was a kid, my grandparents had a shoe store in our local mall and they actually sold these! I desperately wanted a set but my parents told me they didn’t order in my size. Now, I just accepted that as a kid and haven’t thought of it since, but I do have a sneaking suspicion that my parents just thought they were ugly. I’m guessing that I’ll never find them in a 15 wide now.
McGruff the Crime Dog Table Ware (sponsored link)
Now you can not only take a bite out of crime but also a sip? I got nothing, google what happened to the McGruff voice actor if you haven’t already…
Sesame Street Grover Necklace (sponsored link)
My favourite Muppet of all time is Grover, it’s impossible for me to not smirk when I see him. I named my dog (a girl) “Grover” as a kid and my mother’s reading of the “Monster at the end of the book” inspired me to top it for my kids. Grover rules but let’s face it, he’s a crappy waiter.
Harlem Globetrotters Wizzard Wheel (sponsored link)
My friend Matt sent me this and I dig this beautiful and very 70s card art. The Globetrotters cartoon was a fave around these parts. It even inspired me to shoot hoops in my driveway for the entirety of the late 70s. I suck!

I like the movie set-type playset for Action Girl. With its purple dress, I first thought maybe it was a toy from Disney’s film- Frozen.
I miss Ronald Mcdonald + Mcdonaldland!
I heard that Ronald was pulled from ads because some parents complained that the Ron. ads were, “trying to encourage kids to eat at Mcdonald’s.”…what family-style restaurant doesn’t? Maybe Ron just wasn’t selling anymore. Thinking of that- Spongebob [tm] sells frozen dinners at my grocery store. Ha!
I like the Grover jewelry! Why is he with a horse? Maybe Grover runs the petting zoo…at his town’s farmer’s market, or something.
Each Action Girl came with her own comic? Look at that artwork!

I wonder if they reached out to professional comic book artists, like Mattel did, landing Alfredo Alcala for Masters of the Universe mini comics. There might be some hidden gems there.
Hi Brian,
It’s just a thought, but- the Big Mac [tm] slippers don’t look very complicated to make.
If you really want to own a pair of them- you could probably find someone who does- amateur or cottage industry…push toys making or sewing, who can, for a fee: make a close-copy of the Big Mac heads…and then sew them onto some regular slippers for you.
You can probably find sewing-type people, who will make this item for you: 1) at your local sewing or handicrafts clubs…or meetings, or on the sites- etsy [dot] com, or on ebay [dot] com.
Just my view- if you meet a sewing enthusiast, in person, + they like the idea, and you hire them to make these slippers- they might take that job- because they will be [really] excited to take on an unusual project like that.
(That was a long comment. Sorry. It seemed like a small comment, before I wrote it.) ;D
Cheers,
