Cool Collections: Chris’s Apes

Chris sent in this way cool pic of his Planet of the Apes collection, the centerpieces being these original screen worn soldier ape outfits. The one with the stripe was used in the TV episode “The Horse Race”, guess what that was about.

Cool Collections: John’s Monsters

I LOVE it when folks share their collections with me, especially when it’s stuff near and dear to my heart like Monster toys. John was kind enough to give us a peak into his lair today and it’s a drool worthy assortment of old and new, more after the jump. If you dare!

A lot going on here the fetish doll from Trilogy of Terror, Kenner Alien, Mattel Krusher and of course a Shogun Warrior…

John like a lot of folks I know loves his gill man and I don’t blame him! My favourites in this shot are the AHI bend Em Creature and the 9″ Remco verison. Neither of those are easy to find in such nice condition.

Hey that’s Gor King of the Terrons from Hasbro’s Super Joe line sneaking in there, he really fits in well actually.

Have I mentioned John has great taste? These Remco mini monsters prove it.

Godzilla! That diecast Godzilla from Bullmark is a wonderfully weird and fun piece, he’s a transformer!

The coffin bank interested me as a kid, never owned one though.

Cool Collections: Sammy

I got a cool Halloween Treat this week froim my pal Sammy from the Mego forum, he was kind enough to get into the Spooky spirit by sharing his collection of Aurora Monster kits and AHI Super Monsters. Both of these are like kryptonite to me, so check out all the fun after the jump:

Aw yeah Monsters representing, Sammy is a man after my own heart especially when it comes to the variations. He has a few I don’t own here, awesome.

Nothing quite beats classic Aurora love.

The elusive Aurora Witch kit is flanked by not one but two Creechs.

There’s that Aurora DVD I need to own.

I don’t know why so many of the AHI cards are found cut like that, why preserve something if you’re going to crop the top?

Cool Collections: Colbie

I’ve done a couple of ebay transactions with Colbie in the past, so I knew he some great toy tastes but recently he sent shots of his toy room and will admit to being gob smacked, so much to see, it’s like walking into your childhood.
Ahh, Vintage Star Wars, Black Hole even the foreign produced Battle of the Planets? Insane.
I honestly don’t think I ever visited a toy department as a child that as much win as this picture. I haven’t seen Dragon Riders of Styx figures since they were fist released and I can’t ever recal Team America figures on the card.
I don’t collect Lord of the Rings but I do know how incredible it is to have this many Knicker Bocker Ringwraiths. This is what most people’s wantlists look like. I wish I could mae my collection look this organized.
A mind blowing spread of 3 3/4″ goodness! An entire set of Love Boat? Now that’s hardcore.

Cool Collections: Thomas Meuleman

October is the perfect time to highlight the cool custom Mego Monster figures from my pal Thomas in Belgium. He’s both made and collected 8″ versions of the classic Universal and Hammer monsters for his collection.

It’s been a while since I had a cool collection to feature and along comes this excellent collection of Aurora Prehistoric Scenes models from Ray Miller. Ray’s staggering collection doesn’t just include regular items, there are true pieces of toy history in there including the original hard resin copy of the prehistoric bird kit and some concept art. Cool Collections: Dion Thurman

I’ve always wanted to do features on people’s collections, so when Dion offered shots of his 70’s toy collection, there was no better place to start. Above we’ve got three staples of the seventies, KISS, Jaws and the Six Million Dollar man, sweeeeeet!

I spy and Aurora Creature kit and a Vincent Price Shrunken Head set

Lunch Boxes everywhere for the eye to see! There’s another hobby I’ve avoided but have been tempted at every turn. I can see David Carradine’s face plain as day there.

Thanks Dion! Do you have a 70’s related collection you’d like me to showcase, send it on down! It doesn’t have to be toys, just anything partial to the “Me” decade, the more eclectic, the better.Colouring Book Theatre will return next week.

GI Joe collection for sale

My Pal Jesus sent me an email full of pics of incredible 300 figure plus G.I. Joe collection and mentioned to me that it’s for sale. He has Joes from all over the world, Italy, Canada, Spain and most of all, Mexican Lili Ledy Joes which are different from US versions.

I’ve had dozens of dealings with Jesus over the years and can vouch for him as an honest and dependable trader, he’d be in my top ten.

If anyone is interested, get in touch with me and I can forward yout info on and if you have a collection you want to showcase here, let me know. It doesn’t have to be toys, it can be anything 70’s related and it doesn’t have to be for sale. I’d like to do a “Cool collections” week someday.
