Yog is an original creation for the Star Raiders line, he was originally sold under the "Creatures from Other Worlds" brand of figures that came out in 1976. His name may originate from a 1970 Asian horror film "Yog the Monster from Outer Space" that was a late night UHF staple.
Here's a small shot of Yog on his "Creatures from Other Worlds" card, four characters that were originally sold in this subset which looks like it was create to compete with the Mego Star Trek Aliens line.
