I literally grew up with the Aurora Comic Scenes models all over the place. My dad bought a tractor trailer load of these on deep clearance in 1976 and I was allowed to have all of them. My modelling skills were poor at 5, but I mainly used them as action figures. My collection was forever ruined when my sister got car sick on them and they were thrown into a cornfield. True Story!

France’s Pin Pin Toys carried a ton of products from Mego and AHI but also made their own products like this pretty non-descript water gun. The Fantastic Four are huge in France and well, that seems totally deserved. 

Spider-Man Sticker Book from France (eBay Link) —

I always really appreciate Super Heroe merchandise that uses it’s own artwork. It happens so rarely now but look at this fun cover, it’s gorgeous and hey, it’s all the movie Spideys.

70s DC Comics Kitchen Magnets (eBay Link) —

Oh look, childhood happiness. I still have the Robin I’ve had my entire life, there are marvel versions too and BarbaPappas!

Henshin Cyborg Operation Game (eBay Link) –—

My pal Ed posted this on the Mego Museum forums and I mean, it’s incredible. It’s the officially licensed Game of Operation but instead of a nude guy we get Henshin Cyborg. This is fortified awesome. 

Ideal Derry Daring adventure set (eBay Link) —

Derry Daring was Evel Knievel but for girls, it makes sense I’m sure lots of girls wanted to play with that stunt set. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a carded figure before and I am in love with the artwork. This is really awesome.

Superman Sleeping Bag (eBay Link) —

I love comic book Sleeping bags especially ones where Superman is burping and beating up Marlon Brando from “The Wild One.”

Weird Tarzan figures like this are the Faberge egg of my house. I’ve got them everywhere, I can’t resist them!

Dutch Bionic Man Turbo Tower Set (eBay Link) —

Clipper was the Netherlands distributor for Kenner products (we have a Clipper catalog here) and I just really love the packaging on this wonderful toy.

I loved Super Hero stamps as a kid and completely forget they were a thing. It did not give me a life long love of stamps but I think they’re incredible and wish i had to money.

!960s Ron Ely Tarzan Vinyle from Japan (eBay Link) –

If you’re familiar with me, you know I have a fondness for Tarzan figures, especially foreign ones. This Japanese vinyl of Ron (He’ll always be Doc Savage to me) Ely is really exceptional to me. I’ll never own it but I am so happy it exists….

Bootleg Farrah Fawcett Doll (eBay Link)–

Ok, so let’s deal with the elephant in the room, The characters from “Charlie’s Angels” are bending the rules putting it under the umbrella of “Superhero” but Corgi marketed “Kojak” under that banner, so I rest my case. I forgot what I was talking about.

Bootleg Aquaman Doll (eBay Link)–

As you might know, I enjoy knock-off action figures and the sillier, the better. Case in point, The Superfriends, a series of discarded Mego Superhero outfits on the crappiest action figure body ever. Sprinkle in some wonderful artwork and viola, my wallet weeps…

Automan Action Figure (eBay Link) –

As a Gen-X kid, I totally loved all what? 8 episodes of Automan when it aired in the early 1980s. While the show didn’t warrant much merchandise, the UK got a deluge of items including this action figure. Unfortunately, there is no Desi Arnaz Jr. figure to go with it. 

Reb Brown Captain America Movie Poster (eBay Link)–

The Marvel TV movies were sold theatrically in Europe, and these posters always make me smile. As crappy as the first Reb Brown Captain America movie was, I have a real soft spot for part 2 AKA “Death Too Soon.” Not only is Cap in a costume I’d recognize but it has Christopher Lee as the closest thing to the Red Skull we’d see that century. So yeah, not perfect but Reb Brown will always be my Cap, although Chris Evans ain’t no slouch. Just sayin’

FuzzBuster Radar Detector (eBay Link)-
Stuff like this reminds me of my grandfather; he bought gadgets left and right. He had a TV tray with a police scanner next to his lounger, and it was a whole thing. Anyway, I could totally see this on the dashboard of his Datsun. It just looks like it will burst into flames, right? Like it’s not a matter of “if”; it’s more of a “when?”

Inpro Dinosaur lot (eBay Link)–

Oh, I can’t even. I had these little guys in the fourth grade (AKA my “Dinosaur phase”) and collecting them was a blast. Every ten years or so, I forget their names, google it and repeat! I would love to find a display box for these wonders.

When Courtney sent me this, I assumed I was dreaming. This is just something I didn’t think existed and to find out there is a Hong Kong Phooey too? Clearly, I’m the matrix, and I’m also super high.

Ayyyy, copyrights are for squares! Gotta love Arthur Presleyrelli here and the clever ruse that this might be actual happy days merchandise. Fun fact, the creator of this poster is now haunted by the ghost of Gary Marshall.

Micronauts Force Commander Helmet by Kusan (eBay Link) –

I want this thing badly, I know it’s rare and expensive. It’s also just a cheap kids helmet that has Micronauts written on it. The heart wants what it wants sometimes….

Tarzan the Epic Adventures Wrist Watch (eBay Link)–

I really liked “Tarzan the Epic Adventures” TV show, a 90s syndicated series starring Joe Lara definitely trying to cash in on the popularity of “Xena.” The trouble with the show was it didn’t have much of a budget and played in weird markets at odd times. I’ve seen toys from the series before but never one with the actor on the package. Also, this watch design is insane. I don’t speak much Italian but this thing has to have the yell. I mean, why bother otherwise?

EBAY LINK:Grizzly Adams Halloween Costume If anything is a testament to the fact that we had three networks (though growing up in Canada we had our own programs that didn’t warrant merchandise) is the fact that we got Grizzly Adams merchandise. To be fair, the show about a man who lives in the woods with a bear was memorable, it’s just weird that he got not only a Halloween costume but a freaking action figure.

EBAY LINK:VICMA TARZAN PUPPET I’m pretty sure my obsession with Tarzan is common knowledge by now and I just can’t resist merchandise with the Lord of the Jungle. I wish I lived in a warehouse and had unlimited income instead of working in a warehouse with a fixed income. This kind of foreign stuff brings me joy.

EBAY LINK:JAWS Blue Jean Repair Kit What’s more 1976 than a denim patch with Jaws on it. I really don’t know but the sight of this thing shoots me back to being 5 years old and I love it (thanks Dave!)

EBAY LINK:Green Goblin Appearance Poster I collect Superhero appearance posters and of course, I’m working on a book about them. This one breaks my brain, not only is it gorgeous but it’s for a VILLAIN appearance. If you’ve never seen the Mall Appearance Green Goblin suit, well it looks better than any movie version of the character. GAH! I want this so bad I can taste it, I should see a Doctor.

EBAY LINK: The Waltons Sticker Book Ok, so I’ll never badmouth the series itself (mainly because I’ve never watched much of it) but I’ll never get how much merchandise this dreary show got. I don’t see the appeal and yes, Scott, I know you’re a fan but to me, this is like a Shameless colouring book.
