Jaws Arcade Game Sell Sheet (eBay Affiliate Link) –

As a kid, I wasn’t allowed in the early 1970s arcades, which spawned a fascination with the games. I have played this at the CNE or Wasaga Beach (which had antique arcade machines in the 1990s) but I can’t remember the game. What a lovely cabinet, it just grabs you.

Cool 80s Inflatable Monster Chair (eBay Affiliate Link) —

I think it’s unrealistic to think I’ll ever be 85 pounds again, but bobdammit I want this chair. It’s my on-going obsession with Lizard Men, this guy looks like he jumped out of “Archer: Fugitive from the Empire” if you get that reference, we’re close in age.

Super Cool 70s Batman pencil case (eBay Affiliate Link) —

I’ve never seen this case before; there is something about 70s off-model DC Comics characters. Also, I’m a really big fan of The Riddler, so that makes me a bit biased. I do love his booties.

Airwolf Underoos (eBay Affiliate Link) 

Good news Canada, you’re getting exclusive Underoos of Airwolf. Bad News Canada, you’re also making a 4th season of Airwolf with Barry Van Dyke and nobody else.

Many people might know of my childhood battles with Shreddies (AKA the wallpaper paste you won’t die from eating). After the Black Hole, Shreddies never got me with another promotion. However, in the 1990s, they started giving away Star Trek ships, and I had a dealer friend buy boxes just for the prize (I also did this for “ToyShop” money). Volker bought an entire pallet of the stuff and hated it (duh), but the food banks wouldn’t take them because they were open, and the homeless shelters wouldn’t take the sealed bags. His wife explained later that she started using the Shreddies as Christmas decorations; it was a weird conversation that I’m glad I had.

EBAY LINK Black Hole Signal Flashers from Shreddies Cereal- These are a Canadian cereal premium from Shreddies or as I called it as a kid, wall paper paste. Shreddies did a Mego action figure promo that year and folks, I ate a ton of it, thank God for sugar.

EBAY LINK REMCO POWERIZED MICKEY MOUSE RANCH This is an interesting toy from the late 70s and a weird one for Mickey Mouse, apparently the figure has a wind up motor you can use to power all the stuff on Mickey’s Ranch? I’ve never actually seen one of these before and I can’t believe this thing is only $20.

EBAY LINK Aurora Mod Squad Model Kit- The fact that I’ve lived my whole life without owning a tiny replica of Clarence Williams III is crushing me right now.

EBAY LINK Mexican Big Jim Invisible Man figure– Oh I love Mexican Big Jim figures and Hombre Invisible is one of the best, a clear body, removable heads and an outfit, hours of fun! How the heck did we not get this as kids?

Sure it’s an empty cereal box but to me, it’s just something slightly more.

I’ve written about this promotion before , it’s one of those incredibly happy moments in childhood that you just smile about whenever you think about it.

Shreddies was never my favourite cereal, yet for a month in 1979, I endured three boxes of it (with a lot of help from sugar)  to get these….

Actually, it was one box top per figure, an additional $2.50 per figure (plus sales tax) and my mom had to write a cheque! Hell, this wasn’t even that great a deal!

But i did it and waited the eternity for that bubble envelope (with a cool drawing of Maximillian on it) to arrive. I’d love to reunite with that envelope as well, I hope one still exists. Those figures were just….kind of earned and I still have my Vincent nearly 40 years later.

One of the saving graces of this promo that really kept me going were the kick ass Space Pal Pencil caddies that came in every box. I’m positive I ate Shreddies well into 1980 to finish my set.

These guys lined my fourth grade desk and actually i still have one at work right now.

I’m thrilled to share this happy memory, it’s one of the reasons I collect.
