Those who know this site likely may understand how unapologetically I love this movie. It didn’t get a lot of merch, so when I found this in a variety store in Port Perry, I had to have it. This purchase perplexed my son, he couldn’t understand why I’d want a puzzle of a shirtless guy with a “creepy stare” (his words, not mine.) This became a running gag of making sure it was out in the open when he had friends over or just randomly leaving it in the hall outside his room. I should sneak it into his apartment….

V Visitor Pistol

I am a passionate fan of the NBC mini-series and resulting television series “V.” While my wife and I rewatch it often, we don’t have a large collection of V items; I have just a tiny handful of toys, mostly bootlegs, a couple of comics, novels, and a UK annual.

However, when I saw this SpanishVistior Pistol Justin AKA @robeastscorpius had for sale, I jumped on it without thinking. I just had to have it.

It’s an officially licensed item, a modified police cap gun with the distinctive Vistor look. Marc Singer is not only on the card but it also comes with a cool patch of Mike Donavan. Diana’s appearance would be the only thing that would make this better, but we can’t have everything.

While the V television series didn’t last a season in North America, it was a total smash south of the border. As a result, they got more toys, many of which were bootlegs produced locally. I want all of it.

AHI Batman Road Race set (eBay affiliate link)–

I actually owned this at one point and no, it didn’t work. I was left curious if one ever did work, it was pretty shoddy but also adorable.

Complete set of Corgi X-Ploratrons (affiliate link) —

X-Ploratrons was just one of many diecast science fiction lines from the late 1970s, I seemed to get one vehicle from each line and that was it. The Scanotron is on my desk as I type this next to my Shinsei Jeek Tunnelin. 

Toho Frankenstein and War of the Gagantuas Vinyls (affiliate link)–

I’m not sure if these are new or vintage, but wow, is this a big hug from my childhood! Both these movies left a real mark on me as a kid, in a good way as it made me curious about monster movies in general. I don’t collect vinyls (except when I do), and that Franky may find its way to me somehow…

You have to applaud Europe for adding female characters to the GI Joe Adventure team and giving them cool outfits. I was to shy to buy female characters as a kid and well, that’s a shame. I’ve changed my mind on the whole thing now.

The one thing I love about Japanese model kits is that I’m always finding something new, and I hope that it never changes. I don’t know why Superman needs a car, but I so want to see this movie that the box is promising. It’s mid-century cool and I don’t care if it has a single word of dialogue. I want this Superman to beat up those Johnny Quest robots a whole bunch.

Vicma Sherlock Hemlock puppet (affiliate link) —

I saw one of these recently at SDCC, and like most things there, it’s more reasonable outside of those walls. Vicma was a Spanish Toy Company, and their character selection for Sesame Street Puppets was different than the US. They even made a Guy Smiley! This is what drew me to toy collecting—seeing what other countries got. I love it all!
