Mattel Slime with Worms commercial (eBay Link) —

I never had slime as a kid, well, not “official Mattel brand” Slime; I did manage some through a grocery store vending machine (so good!) For some reason, I vividly remember this commercial and really wanting the stuff. In hindsight, this sort of thing is almost impossible to ignore when you’re six. 

The Aliens figure (eBay Link)—

These Shogun Warrior knock off figures came out in the late 1970s and are absolutely charming. I’m personally in love with the logo.

Bootleg Visitor ship from “V” (eBay Link)–

We sure did robbed of officially licensed V toys in the 1980s but wow, did bootleggers try to fill that void. I love these little shuttle replicas and the seller has a whole bunch of options. I’ve also heard there is a segment on bootleg V action figures in the latest issue of Toy-Ventures. I know a guy there.

Black Velvet Bruce Lee (eBay Link) —

I don’t think I really need to explain this; it speaks for itself. For those not into Kung Fu, may I offer you this hilarious off-brand Black Velvet Tweety Bird?

Jaws era Shark Puzzle (eBay Link) –

I can’t honestly tell if I like official “Jaws” merchandise more than “Generic Shark meant to look like Jaws” merchandise. They’re both kind of awesome.

The Hamburglar’s Autograph (eBay Link) —

My friend Courtney sent me this, and well, I didn’t know this was a thing. Apparently, the actor who played the Hamburglar, the original “Nightmare Fuel” edition does signings? I can’t imagine anyone faking this.

Now, I’m no fan of crowds, but I would go to any Con or Expo and gladly brave the (inevitable) BO and getting smacked by backpacks to shake that hand.

Bruce Lee Black Light Poster (eBay Link) —

I’d buy this, but I’d need wood panelling, and I tend to avoid lumber yards. It’s a rare phobia.

Rapco Wolfman Statue (eBay Link) —

I’ve waxed poetically about Rapco monster hobby sets for many years, but I actually don’t own any. After my debacle trying to make a Captain Kirk Mix n Mold set, I think buying one that is done competently is the best course of action for me.

Star Trek Enterprise necklace (eBay Link) —

70s Trek merch is awesome; this pendant totally reminds me of “Cat’s Paw,” and that is a good thing in this house. Those little puppets at the end are so neat too.

New Adventures of Gilligan Dip Dots set (eBay Link) —

Warning: do not confuse “Dip Dots” with “Dippin’ Dots” as one tastes terrible, and the other is just paint. I freaking loved the Filmation New Adventures of Gilligan as a kid. My friend Joe gave me a DVD of it years back and yeah, my kids didn’t get it. They grew up when the original series wasn’t on 20 times daily.  I guess you had to be there.

Before anyone bemoans this fact, I got them hooked on Superfriends, Ren and Stimpy, and so many other classic cartoons, so they got an education.

Mayor McCheese Certificate (eBay Link) —

Sure, it’s $30 for a piece of paper but it insures “FUN AND HAPPINESS EVERY DAY!” For that, I’d even wear this tie every day.

Bruce Lee Black Velvet painting (eBay Link) —

I got lost in a sea of black velvet paintings this week, and while I debated this amazing Kenny Rogers VS this Pink Panther on the toilet, this incredible tie breaker round house kicked it’s way onto the scene. This could only scream “1974” more if he had an Ape mask on.

Fonzie AM Radio (eBay Link) —

I have never seen this wonderful thing before. The artwork is fantastic!

Letraset Universal Task Force set (eBay Link) –

Letraset is very similar to what us kids called “Presto Magix” but they went into incredible tangents. This set, meant for children, looks very Heavy Metal influenced and well, I’d have been all over this at 9.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture Belt Buckle (eBay Link) –

This belt buckle is almost as big as the ones in the movie; they were “Graceland” big. What makes me laugh is, did anyone walk out of that movie with a desire to copy that dress sense?

Vintage 70s Spider-Man kids shirt (eBay Link)–

As a person actively searching for some weird licensed merch from my childhood, I thought I would pass this along. I guess to a lesser degree, if you went to Lake Chippewa as a kid, go nuts?

Spook Chasers Action Figures (eBay Link) –

They aren’t scared of no Specters! Spook Chasers are another comedy bootleg series by a company called Sungold, known for…stealing mostly. The Spook Chasers are pretty lame swipes at the Ghostbusters by Kenner and, as a result, are super rare.  I couldn’t even track down a set for Knock-Offs. Now I use this auction as a reference as I’m not up on the value.

Planet of the Apes Silly Soap (eBay Link) –

In 1974, if they made it, they put Dr. Zaius on it. Do not use this if you buy it; it’ll burn like fire after 50 years.

Bruce Lee Black Velvet Painting (eBay Link) –

You know that scene with Cameron in the Museum in “Ferris Bueller?” Yeah, this is my personal “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.”
