These came out in Canada when I was 11 or 12 and I had this one and AN AMAZING D&D styled one that I want to track down, just for the box. Inside this set is a playmat, some army men astronauts (which will be familiar) and small bootleg colourform aliens, which blew my mind. Aviva made some really cool bits of Star Trek: The Motion Picture merchandise that mostly flew under the radar probably because the film did not inspire kids to buy the merch and act out the movie unless you were weird, like me.  In my defence, the Marvel comic around that time was pretty decent.

A friend of mine brought me a couple of these from a vacation in the 80s, yes we still talk. Next to the Mego line this is one of my favourite pieces from the motion picture, it’s crazy faithful for a cheap toy. I just wish they’d have used them more in the movie!

Star Trek: The Motion Picture Belt Buckle (eBay Link) –

This belt buckle is almost as big as the ones in the movie; they were “Graceland” big. What makes me laugh is, did anyone walk out of that movie with a desire to copy that dress sense?

Vintage 70s Spider-Man kids shirt (eBay Link)–

As a person actively searching for some weird licensed merch from my childhood, I thought I would pass this along. I guess to a lesser degree, if you went to Lake Chippewa as a kid, go nuts?

Spook Chasers Action Figures (eBay Link) –

They aren’t scared of no Specters! Spook Chasers are another comedy bootleg series by a company called Sungold, known for…stealing mostly. The Spook Chasers are pretty lame swipes at the Ghostbusters by Kenner and, as a result, are super rare.  I couldn’t even track down a set for Knock-Offs. Now I use this auction as a reference as I’m not up on the value.

In 1974, if they made it, they put Dr. Zaius on it. Do not use this if you buy it; it’ll burn like fire after 50 years.
