The Hamburglar’s Autograph (eBay Link) —

My friend Courtney sent me this, and well, I didn’t know this was a thing. Apparently, the actor who played the Hamburglar, the original “Nightmare Fuel” edition does signings? I can’t imagine anyone faking this.

Now, I’m no fan of crowds, but I would go to any Con or Expo and gladly brave the (inevitable) BO and getting smacked by backpacks to shake that hand.

Bruce Lee Black Light Poster (eBay Link) —

I’d buy this, but I’d need wood panelling, and I tend to avoid lumber yards. It’s a rare phobia.

Rapco Wolfman Statue (eBay Link) —

I’ve waxed poetically about Rapco monster hobby sets for many years, but I actually don’t own any. After my debacle trying to make a Captain Kirk Mix n Mold set, I think buying one that is done competently is the best course of action for me.

Star Trek Enterprise necklace (eBay Link) —

70s Trek merch is awesome; this pendant totally reminds me of “Cat’s Paw,” and that is a good thing in this house. Those little puppets at the end are so neat too.

New Adventures of Gilligan Dip Dots set (eBay Link) —

Warning: do not confuse “Dip Dots” with “Dippin’ Dots” as one tastes terrible, and the other is just paint. I freaking loved the Filmation New Adventures of Gilligan as a kid. My friend Joe gave me a DVD of it years back and yeah, my kids didn’t get it. They grew up when the original series wasn’t on 20 times daily.  I guess you had to be there.

Before anyone bemoans this fact, I got them hooked on Superfriends, Ren and Stimpy, and so many other classic cartoons, so they got an education.

Space Flyman and Punchboy set (eBay Link) —

This Dynamic Duo is one of the earliest pair of Knock-Off Action figures but probably the earliest Super Hero Knock-Offs as well. The backer card of course, is famous for how Space Flyman “beats off” his enemies and trust me, I lean on that comedy crutch a whole bunch. BTW, we’ve made a cool Punch Boy collector pin designed by the awesome Chris Franklin.

Awesome Spectre Man “Dr Gori” Vinyl (eBay Link) 

My obsession with Spectreman’s nemesis is probably not well known but yeah, he’s like Dr. Zaius but with this sort of “Hipster Energy” that I totally just can’t help but cower to. He’s cooler than me, and it’s giving me a crisis!

I got to tell Mel Welles (the voice of Dr. Gori) about my appreciation for this character in the 1990s; he mumbled “kids” and rolled his eyes. PRAISE FROM CAESAR? I dunno, I felt validated for weird Gen-X latchkey kids everywhere. 

Palitoy Talking k-9 (eBay Link)-–

You know after 40 years of collecting, I can’t say I’ve ever been in the same room as one of these. The Dalek from this series was the first vintage toy I ever done bought.  

70s Star Trek String Art (eBay Link) ––

To quote Mr. Burns, “I don’t know art but I know what I hate” and I LOVE THE LIVING HELL OUTTA THIS.  

Fonzie for President Pajama top (eBay Link) —

You know, this week it freaked me out that Fonzie is the same age as my dad, who is also weirdly younger than Mick Jagger. Right now, I would appreciate a world leader who holds all his meetings in a Burger King bathroom just like the Digital Underground.

Space Robot Patch (eBay Link) –

When my friend Courtney sent me this, I decided to theme the whole post about bootlegs. I mean, this is crassness just mingled with laziness. The time that this company spent thinking up a name! It must have been an all-night brainstorming session. I hope they at least ordered Chinese food.

Amazing Mego Superman bootleg (eBay link) –

I used to own a couple of these. The company actually copied Mego heads and put them on these weird ass robot bodies. They are so weird and yet, so compelling.

Bootleg Starsky and Hutch Rack Toy (eBay Link) –

I understand why any toy company would want to use the likeness of S & H in the 1970s. However, I have to take off points for calling them “private investigators.” They were cops and I swear the creators of the “angry chief” trope. 

Astro-Apes inflatables (eBay link) –

Astro apes are an obsession of mine, whoever made the toys was creative enough to mingle Planet of the Apes with Flash Gordon. However, all of the toys are cheap as chips. The action figures are so hollow it’s upsetting but I do love these inflatables. I have no idea what a kid was supposed to do with these but I would have bought them. Truth be told, I want to make some for Toy-Ventures magazine.

Bootleg Six Million Dollar Man Pencil Box from Korea (eBay Link) –

I’m not entirely sure if this a bootleg but I figure maybe considering it’s Asia where things get a little loose? That drawing of Lee Majors is all I can see anymore. Seriously, I can’t sleep….help me.

I was about to say, “I don’t remember this,” but then I realized a) I was nine and b) I only knew the beer my dad bought, and well, he liked the German stuff. Now I like the German stuff because I stole much of his beer. 

Dyn-O-Mite Mug (eBay Link) –

Do you think there are companion mugs that say “Kiss My Grits” or whatever sound Horsha k made? I’m going to take your silence as a yes.

Danny Devito from “Taxi” Iron-On Transfer (eBay Link) –

It’s funny how things work; you couldn’t pay me to wear this as a kid. If I showed this to either of my kids, they’d beg me to buy it for them. I gotta know if there is a Judd Hirsch one.

Carded GI Joe Bulletman (eBay Link) –

Bullet Man was once the ridicule of GI Joe collectors, but to me, he was GI Joe. Fun story, when I was 5 and got Bullet Man, I had to rescue his package from the garbage. I seriously took it out of the bags on the curb; I think that says a lot about me.

Charlie’s Angels Luggage (eBay Link) –

Now I will advise you that while it isn’t very sturdy, there is no way anybody else will have these at the airport.
