Amazing Spanish Sticker book (affiliate link)–

I featured this incredible sticker book in the “regerts” part of my Monster Bash recap. I can’t begin to describe how cool it is. It seems to have been a puzzle activity, but the range of characters is amazing, including Paul Naschy as Waldemar! It’s epic, amazing, and I wish I had bought it. I can’t get over how many 80s Fantasy playsets used the same characters. I never saw this clever set before but nearly all of the monsters are old friends. Heck it even includes the Colorforms Outer Space men in there (which I had in this cool set Alien Attack, see below.)

Miyarabi’s Prayer: Kill Mechagodzilla 45 

While this is from my favourite Godzilla film of all time, I was never a fan of this song to King Cesar as a kid because it slowed down an otherwise fast paced film. I never knew it was released as a single before.

Which was better for Milton Bradley’s The Dark Tower or Mattel’s Electronic Dungeons and Dragons?

I’m sincerely asking because I’ve never played either. Not for lack of trying, mind you. I was ten when the fantasy craze started in the early 1980s, and I got swept up in it. I tried to play Dungeons and Dragons like many suburban kids with asthma; it seemed like something I might enjoy. I purchased the starter Dungeons and Dragons kit from a used bookstore and fell fast asleep reading the first two pages. This happened repeatedly; heck, I should keep it at my bedside now.

A local friend was a DM and invited me to play Dungeons and Dragons one Sunday afternoon. I got killed off for being silly and never asked back, I was not hurt by that.

After that experience, I really wanted to see if these electronic games would be more my speed, but something else was eating all my money, the Atari 2600.

There I found the fantasy game that was truly my speed filled with dragons, bats and secret rooms.

As someone who was cast out of his one and only D&D game for being too “Disruptive” (my local DM was kind of a tyrant) , I missed out on the whole TSR scene in the day. It was very similar to being the only kid who hadn’t seen “Star Wars”.


I mainly stuck to playing “Gauntlet” for my fantasy fix.
