It's weird that a short lived series like "How the West was won" garnered more merchandise than some movies or more successful TV series did.

Vega$ didn't seem like a show kids watched but obviously Fleetwood disagreed.

ChiPs was a show kids watched and possibly wrote and directed.

Unsold CHiPs merchandise cluttered store shelves well into the late 1980s, the series produced an unbelievable amount of toys.
