\nIt came as a great surprise to me that the blog will be six years old this coming Tuesday. It’s a surprise for a number of reasons, a) I never really had anything close to a plan when I began doing this and b) I figured out the anniversary a week before<\/i><\/b> it happened.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nIt’s been a feat in of itself, I never had  the resources other sites do such as backing or a stream revenue, heck in six years I think I’ve been comped two DVDs but I’d still do it again if I had to.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nSo by way of celebration, I thought I’d create a post about all the things I’m most fond\/proud of and hold a contest for free toys and swag. More after the jump.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nI can\u2019t imagine going back to 2006 and visiting my then sleep deprived self and showing him what the future held. Normally I have the attention span of a two year old who\u2019s had his first Mr Pibb but I\u2019ve stuck to this and that\u2019s because of my favourite thing:<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n1)      <\/span>You People!<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nI can honestly say the #1 thing about running this site has been the incredible, generous outpouring of support I\u2019ve received over the years. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\nWhether it\u2019s been funny comments, sharing photos or humiliating stories via nerd therapy sessions, it\u2019s just made it so damn easy to keep at this. <\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
\nI\u2019m probably jinxing myself here but the interweb is known for being a fountain of negative vibes, especially when it\u2019s pop culture related, it\u2019s nice to have a haven where that ain\u2019t the case. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\nCreating the site has introduced me to so many wonderful like minded folks who now are a part of my life that I can’t list you all!<\/b><\/span>

\n I sincerely thank all of you for this.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nI would have never imagined in 2006 that I would somehow be doing something like having the Brick Mantooth doll made in China. My psyche certainly wouldn’t allow the concept that anyone would care. While I\u2019ll never get rich producing these figures, break even doesn\u2019t look impossible and well, that\u2019s amazing in of itself.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n
\nPlus I have my own vinyl playset thanks to my pal Scott at Didadisplays<\/a> and my other pal Steve has been hammering out the  crazy \u201d Man Mates\u201d fashion line<\/a> for Brick all  this year. To have accomplices in to your crazy idea as much as you are is absolutely intoxicating.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n
\n3) It caused me to write a book and created a life change<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

\nFolks I met while working on the site got me heavily interested in Rack Toys<\/a>, which inspired me to write this book<\/a>. In order to properly create it, I went back to college and got my accreditation. Now I\u2019m forming my own publishing company, it\u2019s scary and exciting at the same time. Above  is the new cover design BTW, you saw it here first!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nAs much as I am a toy geek, I\u2019m also an information junkie and that\u2019s why I love some of the things I\u2019ve been able to draw attention to. Highlights for me include Mall Appearances<\/a>, vintage Toy store pictures<\/a>, the previously mentioned Nerd Therapy<\/a> sessions and stuff like finding the elusive Tomland Monsters<\/a> and the Mattel Toyfair Showroom<\/a> have made this journey all the more rewarding.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
