It’s Jigglin’ Time?

Behold the strangest bit of Marvel comic merchandise I have ever witnessed, it certainly beats Hulk Spider-Man toilet paper and that’s saying something.

Behold “Jiggles and the Thing”, while that sounds like a Marvel team up between Tanya Roberts and Ben Grimm, it’s actually some sort of weird gelatin product.

I’m not sure I’d eat anything that comes from a company known for Yo-yos, especially “5 inch high yellow things” (FYI this blog post writes itself).

What’s really perplexing was the little voice in my head that said “PLEASE BUY THIS”, it took a couple of post Mego Meet beers for it to go away. The next day, I was speaking to a friend about the show and he blurted out “Did you see that awesome weird Thing toy?” Clearly he had the same demons as me….

Star Trek Week: Capes by Norben

Here’s a bit of weirdness from Canada, I actually remember finding one of these in the 80s. Halloween distributor Norben released a series of low cost Star Trek cape and mask sets using what I guess is some Ben Cooper masks from the first movie.

It’s a pretty low rent affair complete with a card that had to be produced locally, there is no way anybody at Paramount approved this magical thing.

Let’s get a good look at this, a really bored Ilia, Kirk in a pink shirt (which happens a lot with Halloween costumes), Mr Spock and a man with a shrimp ring on his head.

Around the back is the sticker I guess you attached to the cape to make it official. Even if Captain kirk wore a cape, it wouldn’t have a picture of himself on it. Although I do believe William Shatner’s would….

Needless to say, I adore this thing.

Strange:1999

These were possible the oddest things I spied at last month’s Mego Meet show. A set of home made Space:1999 plush figures, nerdy high school art project or a really well meaning Grandmother? We’ll never know.
