I’m honoured to on the staff (you should see the lunch room!) of this fun new project The Action Figure Hall of Fame.

Visitors are encouraged to vote for their personal favourites from a large list and this year’s inductees will announced this October.

It’s a really fun project and unlike other Hall of Fames, we’ll be able to insure that all inductees attend our awards ceremony, in full make up.

I thought I’d spend this Sunday blogging about a few things I’m excited about. More after the jump:



Firstly,  Cartoon Lagoon released it’s second trailer. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s a riffing project that has fun with old animation. I’m a huge MST3K guy and this looks such a well done, spirited project, that it’s something I can’t wait to see.

 “CARTOON LAGOON releases its second trailer along with the proud announcement that we are an official pilot selection of the NEW YORK TELEVISION FESTIVAL. For those of you in the New York City area there will be a screening of CARTOON LAGOON in late October at TRIBECA CINEMAS several weeks before the shows official release in November. Screening dates and ticket information will be made available shortly.”

Secondly, I’m setting up with friends at the  Canadian Toycon in Burlington this Sunday, September 9th. I’ll be bringing a ton of vintage toys (cause i’m getting to “hoarding levels” again), catalogs, free trading cards and some teases from the upcoming “Rack Toys” book. 

If you’ve never been, it’s a fun, family friendly show that even has guests. This time it’s Jimmy Hart from the WWF, I’m not a wrestling guy but even I know who that is. If you read this and plan on making it, please come by and say hi!

I’m elated to finally announce the launch of www.collectingcandy.com , a new website that describes itself as the following:
“CollectingCandy.com’s mission is the celebration of candy packaging, candy marketing, and the people behind it all.
 

Visitors should expect the site to be composed of short daily blog entries, while regularly offering in-depth looks into specific brands and categories through longer features. Expect to see images of packaging and learn details of candy history you won’t find anywhere else.

When possible, CollectingCandy.com also hopes to shine an entertaining and positive light on the unknown stories and colorful personalities behind some of candy’s well-known brands and forgotten favorites.”

I’m excited about this site mostly because it made me realize a) how much candy factored into my childhood and b)how much i had forgotten. Be sure to check out the opening essay on Big League Chew.

The site’s creator Jason Liebig would be better known to a lot of PS readers as one of the brains behind wishbookweb.com.  I’m looking forward to losing hours of productivity as get reaquainted with some old friends…

So welcome to teh interwebs collecting candy, we’re better off for knowing you!
