PlaidStallions Toy-Ventures Issue 2 is now available to order and will be shipping this week.

IF YOU PRE-ORDERED TOY-VENTURES ISSUE 2 IT SHIPS THIS WEEK STARTING TOMORROW.

I will have tracking #s for every shipment. I haven’t quite figured out how to attach them to your pre-order but if you have worry, you can email us at toyventuresmag@gmail.com and we can look it up. Our new service drives the magazines to the US and ships via USPS.

One of my passions, the Mego produced Doctor Who toy line is explored in great detail with prototype shots, variations and never before seen reveals.

Chris G blew us away when he discovered the abandoned Kenner Toy Line to the obscure 1970s TV series “A Man Called Sloane”. Did I mention that I love that show?

ISSUE 3 SNEAK PEEK

We’re already hard at it on issues 3 and 4 of Toy-Ventures and this is one of the features we’re working on, a guide to the Lincoln International Monster series of figures.

We’ll also be covering Mego, Palitoy and Popy toys bringing in several new guest columnists from across the globe and a fantastic cover created by a talented and well-known artist. More on this in 2021.

I started this magazine at the lowest point I’ve ever felt in this life and despite it having more challenges (still mad at Paypal!) than I could have imagined, it’s been overwhelmingly positive the amount of support it has received. I can lose myself for hours and hours working on it and I’ve never been happier to “work” on every issue.

Also, incredible props for this issue have to go to my friends Corey LeChat, Rob Chatlin, Steve Moore, Robyn Adams, Kroffty, Ray Miller, Chris G., and Steve Fink. Their hard work and generosity with their time made this incredible.

Mego Knock Off Headquarters focuses on vintage toys that were “Inspired” by Mego corporation, this group was the birthplace of Toy-Ventures magazine and is just straight up vintage toy talk without any pointless melodrama.

Pod Stallions– This is spun out of the PodCast I do with Jason Lenzi and well it’s just a fun group of like-minded collectors and fans of Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Exploitation movies. It’s a really chill vibe, no politics allowed and topics go from Yacht Rock to memorable candy bars of our youth.

Plaidstallions Sid and Marty Krofft Halloween Costume Gallery

One of the biggest influences of my childhood were the Saturday morning programs created by the famed Canadian brothers Sid and Marty Krofft. I don’t think I was alone judging by the amazing variety of Halloween costumes available almost every year of my childhood.

Thanks to my pal Dave McKroffterson AKA Kroftty for sharing his amazing and often times obscure collection of Sid and Marty Krofft costumes for this amazing gallery..

Pufnstuf and first release Witchiepoo.

Later Witchiepoo waves- fabric body and then morphed into all vinyl.

PlaidStallions Toy-Ventures Magazine #1 is now available and it’s been called “not only an entertaining read, but it’s also an impeccable work of reference” by PopCult.

“Just got off the Vroom-Broom and can’t do a thing with it” variant. I think this was a prototype that was never released- just tested.

Original conceptual art with handpainted mask. The dayglo look was too extreme so they fitted the test mask with the cut-out flesh-tone and opted to go that route

Two variants of Horatio J Hoo Doo because kids wanted to be Charles Nelson Reilly dammit!

Weenie the Genie from Lidsville and one costume of Joy. There is another variant that came with wings as well as a male Bugaloos costume, neither of which I have yet.
