They were sold not on a card, but in a display box in the little general store I lived near as a kid. I ended up digging until I found one that was more-or-less realistic colored (most were in off-putting neon hues of unnatural colors).
I carried everywhere for weeks and on Halloween, my homeroom teacher let me hang it at the front of the class as a decoration.
My sister ended up pulling off his head. I was terribly upset until my Mom let me buy another one.
