This toy was one of the biggest disappointments of my early life. It looked like the coolest toy and 5 or 6 year old boy could want. Crap doesn’t quite cut it. None of it worked right including the hinges to keep it closed. Pure garbage. My mother returned it quickly. It was a lesson false advertising. Of course I still sent in $1 dollar for the 100 army men advertised in comics. I got 100 2 dimensional pieces of plastic crap.

I had it. It was awesome, and also awesomely useless. I think the part i used most was the periscope, since I could pull it out of the pack (it was detachable) and used it to look over the tops of things.

In reply to Scurvy. I had this toy in the 70s. A very cool Christmas gift. It was cheap, hard plastic. It didn't hold together well. Great concept that should have been manufactured better.

I had one of these as well. I loved it, but played more with my 6 million dollar man and micronauts. I vaguely remember that a tent was offered, but was pulled due to safety concerns (hmmm, a plastic tent was a suffocation hazard? Who knew!) Does anyone have a confirmation on that memory?

I have found an unopened Ready Ranger Mobile Field Pack among some of the toys stored in the basement. The box is still sealed. What an amazing find! Most likely I will be putting it on Ebay.

I got one in 1975. Loved it. I marked every Sears Wish Book and JC Penney catalog (anyone remember doing this?) I could find in September 1975 so nobody would miss the fact that, yes, I really wanted one of these things.
