This is one of those moments when a person is forced between being kind and being honest.

Kindness says do it because this is true hippie/ swinger decor, but honesty says the effect is... a bit underwhelming by today's standards. For people who wanted to party at home, it was okay. But even back then, nightclubs were using liquid filters and kaleidoscope lenses for truly psychedelic effects.

It's a lot like home video games. For their time, sure, everyone LOVED having "Pac-Man" and "Frogger" and "Q-Bert" at home. Were the home versions as good as the arcade units? The very best systems came kinda-sorta close, but even then they fell short.

Anyway, these are fairly common on eBay. Usually they're listed as "light organs" "color organs", typically combined with terms like disco, dj and vintage. Popular brands back then were Maytronics and "Realistic" which was one of Radio Shack's house brands.

Make sure to check the listings for units that have the ASC. It does make a difference. Also (A.) -is- compatible with (B.) so it's entirely possible to have mood lights on top of mood light speakers. This anon has seen it done at a "vintage" stereo shop and the proprietor wanted a suitably "vintage" price.
