@Tom, The Whitman ones: No, not exactly. Whitman versions of Bronze Age comics today sell for a little less than their Marvel/Gold Key etc. counterparts.

However, Whitman bags were/are an excellent source of Bronze Age titles at a very reasonable price and in minty condition. Personally, I liked them for obtaining classic Scooby Doo (Gold Key) comics, because getting an odd issue is perfectly fine in that line, as the stories were self-contained within one issue.

Marvel, OTOH, could be a problem because of multi-issue story arcs. Getting a random issue #138 of because the story started in earlier issues and would end in later issues.

I remember being intrigued by those multipacks. Were the same comics? Would they be worth as much as those I bought on the regular news stand some day? (I was collector conscious even as a child). The bonus was, they were generally back issues, so you could get issues you had missed. The one thing I disliked about the 3-packs was you never knew what that middle issue was.
