Sadly, too many people can relate to The Sunset Tree. I suspect that it doesn't just speak to those of us with stepfathers, but to anyone with a rough childhood in general.

By the way, if you haven't gotten Heretic Pride yet, I highly recommend picking it up. Great CD.

It wasn’t meant to come off as creepy, my dad worked long hours and always fell asleep on the couch. It wasn’t a rare sight to find him asleep on the couch on Saturday morning. We were just being considerate plus my dad always woke up startled.

Dude. I must say that your memory lane is a bit... creepy. Sort of out of The Sunset Tree

That said, I miss the old conversation pit as well. Ours had a pull-out bed built in and it was where mom stuck us (in front of the TV, surrounded by comics and coloring books) when we were sick.

I also agree the red set is pretty sweet, but what is that couple doing? Was couples' obscene phone calls in vogue in the 70's?

Holy Crap! That second one is in my living room right now! Of course the lines are lower under the guise of modern design, but that's pretty much it without the chase and matching coffee table!

The first one has one way in and one way out baby!

I was at a very ritzy house recently & the lady was telling me about the fabulous one-of-a-kind designer living room set she had just bought... seriously, it looked almost exactly like that second picture, except in cream leather!

I actually really like the red set up top!
