I actually still own both of these games. Always loved playing them but I haven’t taken them out for quite some time. I also just got the Return to Dark Tower but haven’t actually played them yet.

I received both games for Christmas that year, along with a ton of football stuff. My parents desperately wanted to introduce me to other interests besides super heroes. I played the Dungeons and Dragons one a couple of times, but couldn’t really get it to work. Dark Tower, however, was something I played over and over again with anyone that I could get to play with me. I really enjoyed that one.

“Return to the Dark Tower” is highly recommended. Unfortunately, I also didn’t play either of the original games. Like Brian, I got into the Atari 2600. I worked a paper route the entire summer to earn enough. I believe these would have been treasured gifts. I remember my “rich” cousins had both. $45 is about $138 today and that might have been too pricey for my parents.

We played Dark Tower with everyone who lived on our street at one time or another. Parents included! Some of my favorite summer memories are of get togethers at our house playing that game.
