The reason “Smokey the Bear” name came about was that in 1952 a song was produced about him where the word “The” was inserted to keep the timing of the song. In 1955 a kids book was written about him where he calls himself “Smokey the Bear”. Since then, that version of his name stuck….and the rest as we say, is History!
