I remember these toys being very high quality compared to other action figures and accessories of the day (well, with the exception of the fact that Tonto's foot broke off). The accessory sets were fantastic.

I recall the 1970s line being a larger scale than the newer, 3 3/4"? I gotta admit that by 1982 I was more obsessed with BMX than toys, but now ; )

Yes! I had 3 3/4" Lone Ranger & Tonto as a child, with their horses, and these were high quality toys. They were well sculpted for that era, without a lot of re-used parts, and if I remember correctly the pistols fit in the holsters, just like real guns should! That tiny gun-holster playability blew my mind as a 7-year old. This feature all but disappeared until Star Wars and GI Joe had their resurgence in the late 90's–early '00s. Even 3 3/4" GI Joe in his late 80's prime didn't have it.

Funny what sticks with you, or what memories a few old pictures can trigger. Thanks!

I had a lot of these toys as a kid. Great memories of these, as the horses were well sculpted, and the wagon came with a plethoria of accessories!
Too bad the movie bombed. The studios had shot themselves in the foot, however, as they allegedly prevented long-time Lone Ranger-portrayer, Clayton Moore, from appearing as the masked hero. This garnered a lot of negative press.
