1978 Shindana Toy Catalog
Formed in 1968 (with some no obligation assistance from Mattel), Shindana Toys was a Los Angeles based company that wanted to create unique toys for black children.
This catalog, from the company's tenth anniversary sees them branching out into a toy company that now provides a diverse selection of ethnic characters.
Disco Wanda was introduced a few years back (as Wanda) and was one of Shindana's better selling lines. Marla Gibbs was brought in due to her popularity on The Jeffersons, I wish they had expanded this offering to Esther Rolle.
The Little Friends collection expanded the Shindana offering to other ethnic backgrounds which is a great idea.
Rag Doll assortment.
When denim was all the rage.
The Dr J set is now a highly prixed sports collectible and is very well made.
Everyone should own a Redd Foxx doll, go get one now!
Jump in Street.
Shindana's first doll was a baby doll with authentic features, it remained one of their biggest categories until the end.
