1979 Azrak Hamway International Catalog
Azrak hamway International was one of the biggest Rack Toy companies in the world, with a mulititude of licensed products. They were also the parent company for Remco in the 1970's, while AHI provided lower priced toys for places such as dimestores, catalogs and gift shops, Remco would work on the higher dollar items for department stores and christmas catalogs. This relationship would last well into the eighties.
1979 saw some change for Azrak Hamway, gone were Planet of the Apes and the Universal Monster items. Much of the Star Trek items were gone (Larami had the license to the motion picture) and the concentration seemed to be on heavily on superheroes and generic items. Much of the packaging had been redisgned from the mid seventies, in favour of an all black look. This section would not have been possible without the help of Mike Jimenez.
ahi is a large part in our upcoming book "Rack Toys: Cheap, Crazed Playthings" coming December 2012. For more information please click here.
