1989 Maxx Fx Catalog
From left to right: Dracula, Caveman, Alien, Mummy, Frankenstein, Wolfman
Maxx Fx was a great concept for the 80's, a 10" figure (using a Mego body no less) that could turn himself in to Movie monsters ala Captain Action. The concept might have flown much better had Matchbox not decided to use Freddy Kruger as their basic set. Parents groups were outraged at marketing such a character to children and Matchbox pulled the plug on Maxx before the other sets were even released. A true pity seeing as the next wave included a Universal version of Frankenstein and The Alien. Not pictured, but mentioned are The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Jason from the Friday the 13th series of films.

This blown up photo of a MIB Frankenstein set shows what the later packaging might have looked like. My, what big hands you have Frankie....
A close up of the theatre play set shows the loose interpretation of the Creature
