1975 German Toy Catalog
I found this wonderful catalog from a German company called Spielzug, I remember my grandmother bringing me back some of these and how enthralled I was..
It's a really great slice of what lucky kids in Germany got, their own versions of GI Joe and Big Jim, as well as Barbie, Sindy, Lego, Playmobil and Steiff.
Germany wasn't immune to the goodness that was the Fisher Price Adventure People.
Playmobil is of course, a force to be reckoned with in Europe
Sindy was Marx's answer to Barbie and was quite popular in the 1970s, Action Team was Germany's name for GI Joe, they smartly added girls to the brand.
Barbie and Ken are international superstars.
Karl May's popularity in Germany ran for decades, even my dad loved them as a kid. Mattel took the Big Jim bodies and created a hot selling line in Europe.
Lego should come as no surpise.
That Tarzan corgi set kind of haunts me, what is the deal with Kojak?
Western toys were bigger in Europe than they were in North America during the 1970s.
Steiff is the premier plush maker in Europe and they become quite valuable. I have piles of these BTW.
I totally have that seal, didn't know his name was "Robby-baby" sounds like something your agent calls you.
